Deputy wounds knife-wiedling man

A sheriff’s deputy shot and wounded a man with a knife in Lancaster, authorities said.

It occurred about 6:10 p.m. Feb. 17 in the 500 block of West Milling Street in Lancaster, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.

The sheriff’s department was responding to a 911 call about a man holding a knife to his own throat, Koerner said.

When deputies arrived, the man advanced at one deputy in an aggressive manner and the deputy shot and wounded him, Koerner said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of a wound not believed life-threatening.
