‘Empire’ actor Jussie Smollett arrested

In a stunning turn of events, actor/singer Jussie Smollett was arrested by Chicago police after it was revealed he made up the story about being attacked in an alleged hate crime. According to news sources, Smollett faces criminal charges for filing a false police report and for disorderly conduct. He is said to be in custody of Chicago Police. Back on Jan. 29, the actor claimed he had been attacked by two men shouting racial and homophobic slurs, and that they also poured something on him and put a noose around his neck. In the says that followed, police scoured video from the area and eventually came up with two suspects. However, the suspects were Black (Nigerian) and after searching their apartment and questioning them, the police let them go. It was announced in recent days that the “investigation has shifted” and doubts began to surface about Smollett’s story. Cops now say it looks like Smollett paid the two Nigerian brothers to stage the attack with the ultimate motive to drive up his salary for his role on “Empire.” A bail hearing for Smollett is set for today. ON top of Smollett’s legal troubles, inside sources say that the producers of “Empire” are considering suspending the actor. Filing a false police report is a Class 4 felony in Illinois. He could face between one to three years in prison and may also be ordered to compensate the Chicago Police Department for the cost of its investigation. This is a developing story…
