A 28-year-old man Inglewood police tried to stop but was killed when his car crashed into parked cars and overturned was identified this week by the coroner’s office.

Officers on patrol saw Hector Santa Rosa driving his Dodge Charger recklessly about 2:10 a.m. Sunday on northbound Dalerose Avenue near 111th Street, Inglewood police Lt. Louie Johnson said.

Officers tried to catch up with the Charger but lost sight of it, he said.

They were still looking for the car at about 2:20 a.m. when they learned of a crash at 1230 South Rosewood Ave., Johnson said.

The officers went to that scene and saw the overturned Charger that matched the description of the car they sought, he said. It had struck at least two parked cars and overturned.

Santa Rosa suffered blunt force injuries to his head and was pronounced dead at the scene, Johnson said.

The coroner’s office will determine if the man was impaired by alcohol or drugs, Johnson said.
