IMPACT Community Day big success in Lancaster

Last weekend, the city of Lancaster joined forces with residents for IMPACT Community Day. A collaborative event which brought together more than 100 volunteers, and over 750 residents, Community IMPACT Days seek to improve and beautify various neighborhoods. This new program kicked off in the Monte Vista neighborhood.
“Community Day was a labor of love, as these committed residents contributed their time and energy to enhance our city, working jointly with our staff,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Such events not only refresh the physical appearance of our neighborhoods, but more importantly build lasting bonds among residents and encourage ownership and pride in our community, resulting in a lasting impact on our City.”
The city of Lancaster’s IMPACT Initiative was developed to support neighborhood efforts and to enhance the visual appearance of the community, key priorities of the mayor and city council, as well as city administration. Through this initiative and its subsequent program, Summer of IMPACT, local youth work closely with city staff to plan, create, contribute, and support various community-wide and inspired improvement projects.
As part of the IMPACT Initiative, on Community Day, local students and residents worked together to help mow lawns, cut down overgrown trees, and pick up large debris utilizing all-electric lawn and garden equipment.
“Lancaster is filled with dedicated individuals who are passionate about giving back to their community,” concluded Assistant City Manager Ronda Perez. “City staff developed an outlet, and our community responded by coming out and assisting with these projects. Thank you to all those who volunteered as part of Community Day.”
The event concluded with a community BBQ which encouraged neighbors to meet one another and celebrated residents’ united efforts to enhance Lancaster.
