St. Cloud University in St. Cloud, Minnesota, is renaming one of its buildings on campus after the college’s first African American graduate. Ruby Cory Webster graduated more than 100 years ago with a degree in education in 1909. The decision came down after Christopher Lehman, a professor with the department of ethics and women’s studies, began a petition last summer to honor Webster. The building to be renamed is 51B, which houses his department in addition to the English and political science departments. Lehman gathered more than 2,500 signatures. Ruby Cory Webster Hall is set to be christened on Saturday, Oct. 15.
