A Lancaster man who allegedly sent a threatening email to Sen. Dianne Feinstein has pleaded not guilty to felony charges.

Craig Steven Shaver, 47, allegedly threatened the life of the longtime senator on Sept. 30. The specific content of the message was not released by authorities.

Shaver could face a potential maximum sentence of more than three years in state prison if convicted of one felony count each of attempted criminal threats and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

The criminal complaint alleges that Shaver was convicted in 1991 of grand theft.

Shaver was arrested Tuesday by Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies and remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to jail records. A bail review hearing is set next Tuesday at the Lancaster courthouse.
