A sheriff’s sergeant and deputy were slightly injured this week in Newhall while detaining a woman who had allegedly attacked employees at a temp agency.

A patrol sergeant responded just after noon Oct. 9 to a report of a woman attacking employees at the employment agency in the 23400 block of Lyons Avenue, according to Officer Shirley Miller of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Santa Clarita Valley Station.

The woman fled in a vehicle, which the sergeant quickly located and pulled over in the area of Newhall Avenue and Sixth Street, Miller said, adding that a sheriff’s Parks Bureau deputy who was in the area arrived to assist the sergeant.

The woman, who was in her early 30s, began flailing and injured both the sergeant and the deputy, one of whom was punched in the face and suffered a cut lip, Miller said.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of assault, Miller said. Her name was not immediately available.
