Four people were injured this week in a three-vehicle crash that happened during the pursuit of a reckless driving suspect.

The crash occurred about 1:45 p.m. at the intersection of 95th Street East and Avenue R, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The chase began when an officer tried to pull over a black BMW that was being driven recklessly in the area of Palmdale Boulevard and 50th Street East in Palmdale, CHP Officer Gil Hernandez told a news videographer at the scene of the crash.

The BMW later slammed into a white Mazda, sending it careening into a Dodge Durango, Hernandez said.

The suspect and the other two drivers were taken to a hospital, Hernandez said. A small child who was a passenger in the Dodge was also taken to a hospital.

A 13-year-old boy who was a passenger in the BMW was not transported, Hernandez said.

At one point, the BMW driver tried to ram a second CHP vehicle that responded to assist in the pursuit, Hernandez said.
