A passenger in a mortuary van was killed and the driver critically injured in a two-vehicle crash in Palmdale.

A preliminary investigation determined the van was traveling southbound on Sierra Highway about 11:50 p.m. Nov. 26 and was making a left turn on a green light onto Palmdale Boulevard when a vehicle traveling eastbound on Palmdale Boulevard at a high rate of speed ran a red light and slammed into the van, causing it to overturn, according to Sgt. R. Klumpp of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Palmdale Station.

Marvin Bray, 59, of Palmdale died at the scene, the coroner’s office reported. The van’s driver was transported to a hospital in critical condition, Klumpp said.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital, Klumpp said.
