In support of the Antelope Valley’s Sheriff Stations, the AV Sheriff’s Booster Club will host its sixth annual Casino Night on April 7. With “Buy Local, Hire Local” as the 2018 Casino Night theme, the event will be held at the Pioneer Event Center, 45000 Valley Central Way, in Lancaster, from 6 to 10 p.m.  7. Dozens of local businesses and organizations have partnered to sponsor this memorable event, and tickets are currently on sale to the public.

“Fighting crime and creating jobs are top priorities for me and the entire Lancaster City Council. The 2018 Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Boosters “Buy Local, Hire Local” Casino Night helps support our sheriffs, while partnering with local businesses to offer them the opportunity for increased exposure,” said Lancaster Vice Mayor Marvin Crist who also serves as president of the Antelope Valley Sheriff’s Boosters. “Our local business community has been extremely supportive, not only of this event, but in their day-to-day commitment to buying and hiring local, and we want to acknowledge all they do for our community.”

Many local businesses and organizations have already stepped up to the plate, partnering with the Sheriff’s Boosters to sponsor this impactful community event. Following the lead of main event sponsor, SPower, there are currently an additional 56 event sponsors, representing various industries. More than 10 unions are participating, including IBEW and the building trades, while nine automotive dealers have banded together to offer an outstanding grand prize.

Proceeds raised by the Casino Night will benefit both the Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff’s Stations. Funds will contribute toward the purchase of bulletproof vests and safety equipment, as well as non-lethal weapons, such as Tasers and Arwens.

“Here in the Antelope Valley we know the power of partnership. This event is a great example of our community spirit – local businesses, unions, and law enforcement coming together for a great cause – while offering a fun event to our community,” continued Crist.

Sponsoring automotive dealers have allowed for guests who purchase a raffle ticket to have an opportunity to win a new car of their choice. Each local dealership is presenting two vehicle choices (each valued at up to $35,000, if sold by the dealer). The grand prize winner will select the automobile of their choosing from the vehicles presented. Must be present to win.

Attendees will also enjoy casino games, including blackjack, poker, roulette and craps, as well as a cigar bar. Inspired by the City of Lancaster’s annual Field of Drafts Craft Beer Festival, the event will feature beer tasting, with an array of brews from local microbreweries. In addition, the evening will include bourbon tasting and food stations, as well as a selection of wines served up by regional wineries.

The AV Sheriff’s Boosters anticipate approximately 2,000 attendees at this popular event. In fact, 2018 marks the first year that the Pioneer Event Center (PEC) will host the Casino Night, which has outgrown its previous location in the University of Antelope Valley ballroom. In keeping with the Boosters’ commitment to public safety, there will be Community Service Officers available to drive any guests home afterwards who require a designated driver.

Tickets for the event are $75 each and can be purchased at the University of Antelope Valley, as well as the Lancaster and Palmdale Sheriff Stations.

“It’s great to see the people of Antelope Valley come together from different backgrounds, industries, and organizations to support our brave men and women in law enforcement,” added Howard Harris, co-chair of the AV Sheriff’s Boosters, president of AV Fairgrounds, and a commissioner with the city of Lancaster. “We invite the public to join us in showing our community’s support for our local sheriffs by attending this event.”
