The “Black Panther” movie enthralled audiences worldwide with its vision of technological innovation integrated with a non-traditional western society. In the wake of this success, educators have come to question can we pull from some of the core themes presented and create a “Wakanda” type environment in real life? “Black Panther/Afrofuturism–Now What?” will take place tonight at 7 p.m. at Cal State Los Angeles.

TEC Leimert & the new Interactive Arts Institute at Cal State LA have put this engaging subject to the people, working together to bring a panel of leading educators, digital tech leaders and studio executives to guide us as we look to answer the questions on how to re-create Wakanda. Our speakers will lead the discussion covering the future of STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) education. Afrofuturism, Multicultural Storytelling and Tech innovation. A Virtual Reality exhibit by Last Call Games/Portal Zone VR will give attendees the opportunity to experience future possibilities in action first hand.
