The city of Palmdale will kick off National Night Out with its annual event on Tuesday, July 31 from 6 to 9 pm at Domenic Massari Park,  37716 55th St. East, in Palmdale.

The festivities will include public safety displays, music, photo ops and many other activities for both kids and adults. A variety of food, ice cream and snack vendors will also be part of the event. Free popcorn and cotton candy will be provided by Hometown Buffet.

“Bring your family and friends, some chairs and a blanket, enjoy some music food,  and get to know the first responders in your community”, said Kery German, Palmdale crime prevention specialist. “The party starts at 6 p.m. and will conclude with a walk around the park from 8:30 to 9 pm by residents, city staff and law enforcement.  We hope as many people as possible will stay to join us.”

National Night Out is a nationwide crime and drug prevention awareness campaign designed to generate support for and participation in local anti-crime efforts.  It strengthens neighborhood spirit and law enforcement-community partnerships and sends a message to criminals that neighborhoods are organized and fighting crime.

In celebration of National Night Out 2018, residents in Palmdale neighborhoods are asked to participate by turning on their outside lights and spending evenings outside with neighbors throughout the month of August. Many neighborhoods will be hosting special events such as block parties, cookouts and forming Neighborhood Watch  groups with the city’s crime prevention staff and Sheriff’s deputies.
