It’s annually one of the most anticipated cover stories of any publication around the world – it’s the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issues. And this year’s cover is only the third one in its history to feature a Black model. The beauty is Danielle Herrington, and she is a native of Compton. Herrington now lives in Brooklyn, a borough of New York City. In an interview with USA Today, the stunning California native says she grew up “pretty normal” and eventually began looking up to model and TV personality Tyra Banks. The 24-year-old adds that she was always shy, but attending modeling school helped boost her confidence. The only other two Black women who have graced the cover were Banks in 1997 and Beyoncé in 2007. This is actually Herrington’s second appearance in the swimsuit issue, as she was featured inside only last year. Believe it or not, this is Herrington’s first cover of any magazine, but with her stunning good looks and beautiful personality, people can expect to see more covers to come. On social media, Herrington wrote: “I dedicate this to all the young girls out there. Word hard, surround yourself with good people who believe in you and your dreams will come true.”
