Black Business Association to honor Rev. Dr. Cecil Murray

The Black Business Association (BBA), one of the oldest ethnic business organization in California, will commemorate Black History Month by presenting its Annual Awards Dinner on Saturday, Feb. 24, at the California African American Museum in Los Angeles. A reception begins at 6 p.m. and the awards dinner at 7 p.m. Rev. Dr. Cecil L. “Chip” Murray will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Rev. Murray is a university fellow for the USC Center for Religion and Civic Culture and Pastor Emeritus with F.A.M.E. Church of Los Angeles. He became a nationally known figure in the wake of the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and became actively involved in the issues of job-training, homeowner loans, affordable housing, condom distribution and HIV/AIDS awareness. Rev. Murray started FAME Renaissance, a non-profit organization that focused on economic development. Held in recognition of Black History Month, this year’s theme is “African Americans in Times of War.”
