The city of Santa Clarita invites you to attend upcoming shows at The MAIN, located at 24266 Main Street, in Old Town Newhall. Tickets are now on sale for two comedy and improv shows, a theatre production and a concert.

August begins with a weekend of laughs from Comedy Mashup and The Society Comedy Troupe. Comedy Mashup is a group of working comedians and improvisers from all over Los Angeles that come together once a month to put on a show that is half stand-up comedy and half improv. This month’s headliner is Adam Wylie, a comedic, close-up magician who has appeared on CW’s “Masters of Illusion,” received the Carl Ballantine Award and placed twice in the Strolling Magic Showdown at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. The show is tonight at 8 p.m., and geared towards an adult audience. Tickets are $12 presale and $18 at the door.

The Society Comedy Troupe is bringing hilarious and energetic team improv to The MAIN. Similar to the TV show “Whose Line Is It Anyway,” they ask for audience participation while creating improvised music, comedy and scenes. The show takes place tomorrow at 8 p.m. and is appropriate for all ages. Tickets are $12 for seniors and students and $15 for all others.

If theatre is more your speed, don’t miss “27 Ways to Screw Up Your College Interview,” presented by LCAZ Productions. When two college recruiters at a prestigious university need to fill one last spot to keep their jobs, 27 eccentric, dimwitted and slightly-insane high school seniors are eager to come in for an interview. What seems like a simple task turns into a nightmare as each applicant hilariously illustrates what NOT to do in a college interview. Performance dates and times are Aug. 10, at 7 p.m., Aug. 11 at 1 and 7 p.m., and again on Aug. 12 at 1 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youth under 18.

For the music lovers out there, check out the Sidecar Music Series, featuring Austin Jons and the Immortals, on Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. Austin Jons and the Immortals is a blues and rock band performing original songs. The band’s diverse sound stems from the music they were influenced by growing up when they learned to play instruments. Tickets are $15.
