A man and woman were killed when they were struck by a car in a Lancaster roadway, and the coroner’s office has now released the name of the male victim.

Joshua Molina, 24, was one of the people who died in the crash, according to the coroner’s office. The female victim remains unidentified at this point.

The crash was reported at 1 a.m. April 15 on Avenue J near Elm Avenue, Sgt. Michael Politano of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station said.

Preliminary information indicated “Two pedestrians walked into the lanes of travel from Elm Avenue into the path of the Chevy Cruz. The driver was unable to avoid the pedestrians and struck them both,’’ Sgt. D. Jennings of the Lancaster Sheriff’s Station said. The man (Molina) may have been intoxicated but it is not known whether the woman was impaired.

Molina and his female companion were pronounced dead at the scene, Politano said. The car’s driver stopped and called 911.

The crash remains under investigation, Politano said.
