In a move that has stunned millions, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin went to visit rapper Meek Mill… in jail. After the three met, Kraft spoke with the media, calling for action concerning criminal justice reform, reports Business Insider. Mill is in prison on a two-to-four sentence for violating probation. Kraft and Ruben aren’t the first high profile people to call for his release. Kraft, however, publicly claimed he was deeply affected by Mill’s story. “He’s an amazing young man,” Kraft said to reporters. “I know how I feel if I were in the situation he is. He is very intelligent.” Kraft also said his attitude about criminal justice reform has been shaped over the years by his interaction with professional football players. “It’s really bad. I know some of our players in the NFL have talked about this. I see it firsthand. It’s just wrong. We have to find a way to correct it and also help the community help themselves. It’s just sad. This guy is a great guy. Shouldn’t be here. And then think of all the taxpayers here paying for people like this to be in jail and not out being productive.”
