Grammy Award-winning singer Faith Evans will headline a celebration on Saturday for the Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Mall 70th anniversary.

Vocalist Rose Gold will open the event, taking place from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Sears parking lot (off Stocker Street) and there will be live dancers, a drum circle performance, curated food trucks, street vendors and arts and crafts for children. DJ Eque will also perform.

Evans’ latest release, “The King & I,’ includes original duets with her late husband The Notorious B.I.G. Gold has performed recently with The Pollyseeds, a group founded by Terrance Martin, and this music is included on their recent album “The Sounds of Crenshaw, Vol. 1. Gold expects to release a solo project later this year.

The Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Mall was the first (outdoor) shopping mall in the United States. It remains the cornerstone of the South Los Angeles community and continues to honor the rich history of the area with year-round music and entertainment performances.

Sponsors for the event include AARP, Metro, McDonald’s and Los Angeles City Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson.
