Foundation marks 60th anniversary gala

The Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California will hosts its 60th anniversary gala celebration Oct. 26 beginning with dinner and a program at 6 p.m. at the Taglyan Cultural Center in  Hollywood, 1201 N. Vine St. Admission 200, and will include a casino night.

The program will feature live entertainment including Candace Coles and the CJ Legacy band performing contemporary sounds and will honor 13 partners. The honorees include Herzog Contracting Corp., Bhavana, R.Ph., Dr. Cage Johnson, professor emeritus of medicine, physiology and biophysics with the Keck School of Medicine at USC; Carolyn Rowley, Ph.D. founder and executive director of the Cayenne Wellness Center and Children’s Foundation; retired nurse Charlotte Dixon-Burke of the Kaiser regional pediatrics, and Dr. Diane Nugent, executive director and board president/founder and president medical director pediatric hematology/oncology center for inherited blood disorders board member of the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California, Dr. Ellen Rothman chief medical officer at Martin Luther King Jr. Outpatient Center, Dr. Lakeia Bailey, Ph.D., executive director Sickle Cell Community Consortium; Lisa B. Pullens R.N., B.S.D.N., C.P.H.N pediatric hematology nurse coordinator City of Hope Medical Center, and Dr. Nadia Ewing, clinical professor of pediatrics, director of Sickle Cell Hematology, City of Hope; Dr., Dr. Susan Claster., hematologist, Center for Inherited Blood Disorders Martin Luther King Medical Out Patient Center; Dr. Yutaka Nihara, MPH. Chief Executive Officer.
