Wellness center debuts in Baldwin Hills

Assemblymember Sebastian Ridley-Thomas (54th District) and a number of community leaders are expected to be in attendance this morning to open the new CareMore care center at 3711 S. La Brea Ave., Baldwin Hills.

The Baldwin Hills location is the second care center to open with a new design.

Originating in Downey in 1992, CareMore is a physician-founded, physician-led care delivery system that harnesses the power of teamwork to treat the whole person. As an integrated health delivery system, CareMore is focused on treating the entire well-being of its patients, including mental and social health.

CareMore has worked these years to treat all areas of patient health. For instance, isolation reportedly affects more than 43 percent of seniors and leads to a 45 percent increased risk of mortality CareMore’s Togetherness Program is a unique a clinical program to address loneliness as a medical condition. The new care center is designed to foster a more social environment for patients with an emphasis on social interaction and healthy communication.

A concierge greets patients at the center who directs them where to go. From the entrance, patients can view all the activity occurring in the care center, including patients working out at the Nifty After Fifty gym, playing dominos in the community room, enjoying a drink from the coffee bar, and conversing with CareMore staff. The open floor plan creates a more inviting space for patients who were previously limited to sitting in a waiting room before their appointments.
