The Wartime Radio Revue will bring its classic big band sound to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) at 8 p.m. this evening.
“Broadcasting live, all across America, to all the ships at sea and to all our boys in uniform stationed abroad, this is Wartime Radio Revue!” So begins the evening with Pete Jacobs and his 16-piece big band. Interspersing the greatest hits of the 30’s and 40’s with breaking news stories from the war years, as well as 1940’s-style radio commercials and commentary, this band will transport attendees through time back to a World War II USO show.
Three Andrews Sisters style female vocalists, a hard-driving rhythm section, and an eight-piece horn section dressed in armed forces uniforms, results in an authentic evening of hit music and nostalgia. Coming to LPAC on the eve of Veteran’s Day – this show is perfect for not only veterans, but those longing for the good old days of radio entertainment and the golden era of swing.
