The Palmdale City Library, located at 700 E. Palmdale Blvd., will kick off this year’s Summer Reading Program on Tuesday, May 30 at 3 pm with cupcakes for the first 100 kids and teens that sign up, and crafts for all who attend.
This year’s theme is “Reading by Design,” and the program will run from May 30 to July 29. All ages are welcome to participate, and sign-up will be available throughout the session.
“This is a reading program truly for all ages,” said youth librarian Jamielee Beck. “With ‘Reading by Design’ as our theme, this year’s program will focus on design, art, and creativity. It’s a great opportunity to build your brain, build your confidence and build your community.”
The children’s program will give kids the opportunity to complete library-related activities and earn prizes along the way and features a coloring page of a city landmark to keep track of their progress throughout the summer.
The teen program is inviting teens to read and share reviews for a chance to win larger prizes, while the adult program will feature a bingo card with activities and challenges that will also put them in the running for some great prizes.
As part of Summer Reading Program, there are several special programs planned including Lego nights, “Bug Designs” by Steven Kutcher, and “Rockets and Robots” with Captain Bob.
The Palmdale City Library is open seven days a week. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.
