Among the dignitaries expected to be on hand is Palmdale Mayor Jim Ledford, who will offer welcoming remarks. Major Conrad Hernandez, commander of Highland High School Air Force Junior ROTC, will be the master of ceremonies. Other local organizations expected to be present include the Sons of the American Legion Post 311, American Legion Post 348, Elks Lodge 2027, VFW Post 3552, 348 Auxiliary, and an honor guard.

The ceremony will include the raising of the colors and Pledge of Allegiance, invocation and benediction by John Clarke, the national anthem, a table of honor ceremony, traditional laying of wreaths, and a salute to America’s veterans. Taps will conclude the ceremony. A special observance at the old Palmdale Cemetery, 20th St. East, will take place immediately after the event.

The AVSOA comprises more than 30 area service clubs and encourages community participation in their various events. Each year, the AVSOA implements services for Memorial Day, Flag Day, POW-MIA Day, and Veterans Day.
