The Community Action League (TCAL) and The Los Angeles County Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) will hold a press conference today to announce the Antelope Valley’s Cultural Broker program. This is an effort launched by DCFS and the community to engage more community members in serving their communities. The press conference will take place at the DCFS office located at 39959 Sierra Highway in Palmdale and will begin at 11 a.m.
DCFS is working to build a partnership with the community. The primary goal of the Cultural Broker Program is to greatly decrease the disproportionate number of African American families within the Department of Children and Family Services and also more importantly, to empower families in the community.

Community service shows the best of the Antelope Valley spirit—“people turning toward problems instead of away, working together to find community solutions,” said Pharaoh Mitchell, a representative of TCAL. “Today, as we thank community members for their commitment, let us all pledge to do our part to strengthen our community through service and volunteering.”
By shining the spotlight on the impact of service and volunteering, The Community Action League hopes to inspire more residents to get involved in their communities.
The next Cultural Broker’s meeting will take place on June 6, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the DCFS office 300 E. Avenue K6, in Lancaster. Community members are invited to attend and participate in this important event. They will be able to obtain information about becoming a Cultural Broker.
