Education summit set tomorrow

The Palmdale School District tomorrow will present its second annual Ed Tech Summit for local teachers and administrators. It will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Palmdale Learning Plaza, 38043 Division St.
The educational conference will focus on the integration of technology into the classroom and curriculum to improve student engagement and achievement. More than 30 speakers are expected and will provide an assemblage of workshops for participants.
Milton Chen, Ph.D., who will deliver the opening keynote speech, is a senior fellow and executive director emeritus at the George Lucas Educational Foundation the Bay Area. Chen was the founding director of the KQED Center for Education (PBS) in San Francisco. Earlier in his career, Chen was a director of research at Sesame Workshop in New York, helping to develop the Sesame Street television program. He currently is as an assistant professor at the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Tom Gierke, Google’s K-12 education lead facilitator, will also speak. His work has focused on supporting schools through sustainable transformation, while engaging with school leaders, educational/technological partners, and educational communities across the western and central United States by encouraging more use of Google in units and lesson plans.
