House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA-23) is accepting internship applications for his summer Internship Program.

Applicants must be enrolled in college (in at least their first year of post-secondary studies), and maintain a 3.0 grade point average. Good writing skills and computer fluency are a plus. Preference will be given to residents of the 23rd Congressional District (portions of Los Angeles, Kern and Tulare counties), but all applications will be considered. Summer interns must pay their expenses, including transportation and lodging; a $1,500 stipend is available if they reside and choose to intern in both the Bakersfield (two weeks) and Washington, D.C. (six weeks) offices.

“As a former congressional intern, I found service to our community and country incredibly fulfilling and I invite all interested college students and recent graduates to apply for internships at my offices,” McCarthy said. “We face an important opportunity in our country’s history to provide a more prosperous future for all. This internship offers the ability to learn more about the federal issues important to our community and to build that brighter future.”

Applications and supporting documents must be postmarked by March 17 and sent to Rep. McCarthy’s Bakersfield office at 4100 Empire Drive, Suite 150, Bakersfield, CA, 93309. You may email the information to Robin.LakeFoster@mail.house.gov.
