On Aug. 3, in recognition of National Night Out, the city of Lancaster will host residents at its seventh annual Public Safety Fair and Emergency Expo set from 4 to 8 p.m. on Fig Avenue (south of The BLVD). The event will be held in conjunction with the weekly BLVD Market festivities.

The safety fair is designed to provide residents general emergency information.

“One of the defining characteristics of a strong community is being able to come together in order to solve problems,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “The annual Public Safety Fair and Emergency Expo provides invaluable resources, as well as a great opportunity for our residents to connect with each other, and members of the law enforcement community. As a collective group, we come together in the fight against crime—and win.”

Organizers say that attending the expo, as well as various National Night Out community gatherings conducted throughout Lancaster, are good ways to stay engaged with friends and neighbors while acting in solidarity for a safer city. These events can help keep the public engaged with law enforcement and public safety personnel that can foster a stronger relationship within the community. Residents that evening can still shop, dine and participate in the familiar entertainment activities along The BLVD.

Attendees are encouraged to participate in further National Night Out events in their neighborhoods. Throughout the nation, National Night Out provides an opportunity for citizens to spend time outside their neighborhood and engage in community events such as block parties. Citizens from coast to coast are encouraged to leave their front lights on as a collective way to stand up against crime in their respective communities.
