Los Angeles Trade Technical College recognized former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley on what would have been his 100th birthday this week by renaming its Redwall Hall as the Tom Bradley Center for Student Life.

It was the first such renaming of a building at the college in honoring the legendary five-term mayor.

Trade Tech College sits on the original location of Los Angeles Polytechnic High School where Bradley once attended and served as the school’s first African American student body president. Redwood Hall is among the original buildings from those days, and currently houses the college’s Associated Student Organization, the city of Los Angeles Work Source Center, and the Foster and Kinship Care program.

Among the dignitaries attending the ceremony were LA City Attorney mike Feuer, Bradley’s daughters Lorraine and Phillis, former LA City Controller Wendy Greuel, former councilmembers Robert Ferrell and Tom LaBonge, Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD) Board President Sydney Kamlager-Dove, and LACCD Chancellor Dr. Francisco Rodriguez.
