Luke Dixon, an African American “Buffalo” soldier who served in the 92nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, will turn 105 tomorrow, Decd. 2. His division was the only Black division to see combat in Europe during WWII. Dixon remains an important part of his family and community, offering his rich history in stories. He has received numerous proclamations from national and local leaders, including former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter; Rep. Karen Bass (CA-37); Gov. Jerry Brown; Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti; and Inglewood Mayor James Butts.
