Palmdale woman dies in Palm Springs bus crash

A Palmdale woman was one of 13 persons killed in a tour bus crash on Interstate 10 north of Palm Springs.

Conception Corvera, 57, was on a gambling junket to the Red Earth Casino in Salton City last weekend when, on the return trip to Los Angeles, the bus crashed into a big rig truck traveling approximately five miles per hour because of traffic congestion on westbound Interstate 10 west of Indian Canyon Road in Desert Hot Springs, according to a CHP report. Five persons were critically injured among the 44 passengers on board.

The tour bus was owned by USA Holiday, a Los Angeles-based company. The driver and owner of the bus company, 59-year-old Teodulo Elias Vides, was also killed.

Among the dead were Los Angeles residents Yolanda Mendoza, 69; Isabel Jimenez Hernandez, 66; Rosa Ruiz, 53; Gustavo Green, 62; Zoila Aguilera, 72; Milagros Gonzales, 72; Aracely Tije, 63; Dora Galvez de Rodriguez, 69; Elvia Sanchez, 52, and Anna Gomes de Magalion, 71.
