A Santa Clarita homeowner was in custody this week on suspicion of weapons and narcotics charges for reportedly firing a warning shot at a 6-foot man dressed in a “full clown” costume, who allegedly approached him with a knife.

The man in the clown costume approached the homeowner at about 6 a.m. while he was smoking a cigarette in front of his home in the 25000 block of Via Desca, according to Sgt. Cort Myers of the sheriff’s Santa Clarita Valley station.

The homeowner fired a warning shot from an unknown type of firearm and the clown fled the scene on foot, Myers said.

The homeowner was eventually arrested, said the sheriff’s sergeant, who wouldn’t disclose any further details about the arrest.
