The national election, along with a number of statewide propositions and local measures, will be presented to voters on Nov. 8. You must be a current registered voter in California to cast a ballot.
A registered voter is a U.S. citizen who is a resident of this state, at least 18 years of age, not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felony, and who is registered to vote at his or her current residential address. Individuals can vote in person or by mail.
There is time this weekend to vote by mail as well as early voting opportunities in Los Angeles County. These ballots must be received by county elections offices no later than 8 p.m. on Election Day. Vote-by-mail ballots can be returned in person to any polling place within your county on Election Day, or be submitted on your behalf by a legally allowable third party (spouse, child, sibling or parent) to any polling place in your county on Election Day. The third party must be authorized by the voter to submit the ballot.
To find your correct polling place visit the Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ca.gov/elections/find-polling-place.htm, or call the toll-free Voter Hotline at (800) 345-VOTE (8683). If your name does not appear on the voter list at your polling place, you can cast a provisional ballot at any polling place in the county in which you are registered to vote.
Polling places are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. You can still cast your ballot if you are in line prior to 8 p.m. Don’t hesitate to ask a poll worker for assistance on how to use the voting system or how to correct any mistakes you may make on your ballot.
