PVJOBS is partnering with Uber to recruit 12,000 additional drivers in the Los Angeles area, and applicants can visit PVJOBS at 4112 S. Main St. anytime between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 23 to sign up.
Applicants must bring theirfour 4-door, 2001 or newer model car with a clean title; their California Driver’s License; vehicle registration; insurance card; and personal banking information to Wednesday’s event.
“Uber’s recruiting practices reflect our PVJOBS mission: making job opportunities available to local, disadvantaged residents,” PVJOBS executive director Ernest Roberts said. “We appreciate Uber’s commitment to the communities it serves.”
PVJOBS is a nationally recognized, nonprofit organization that works with major construction projects, unions and 130 community-based organizations to provide construction job opportunities to local, at-risk residents. These at-risk youth and adults have either come from single-parent homes, have been welfare recipients, did not complete high school, have former gang affiliations, endured homelessness or have been incarcerated. PVJOBS has nearly 16,000 active, job-ready candidates in its database. Since its formation in 1998, PVJOBS has filled more than 7,000 positions, maintaining a retention rate of 89 percent.
