In recognition of “National Night Out: America’s Night Out Against Crime” scheduled Aug. 4, the city of Lancaster is encouraging residents to join its sixth annual Public Safety Fair and Emergency Expo that evening from 4 to 8 p.m. on Ehrlich Avenue between Kettering Street and The BLVD.
The safety fair is designed to provide residents with general safety information and give out tips on how to stay prepared for emergencies.
“The most vital strength of any community is the fellowship and trust we have with each other,” said Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “The Public Safety Fair and Emergency Expo, coupled with National Night Out, provides an excellent platform for our residents to connect with valuable local resources, and with each other. Standing alongside one another, we can join together as neighbors and demonstrate our unity against crime.”
Organizers say the Expo and National Night Out are excellent ways to remain engaged with friends and neighbors while acting in solidarity for a safer city. The evening will be a good opportunity to do some shopping, dining or taking in one or more of the varied entertainment opportunities on The BLVD.
After the Expo, residents are encouraged to participate in National Night Out Against Crime, a nationwide event dedicated to promoting crime prevention where people spend time outside in their neighborhoods and engage in community events such as block parties. Citizens are asked to leave their porch light on as a collective way to stand up against crime.
