Celtic Nights: Spirit of Freedom, a unique interpretation of Irish song and dance, will conclude its two-night stay this evening at 8 p.m. at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC).

The show brings together an accomplished cast of dancers, vocalists and musicians to paint an enchanting and exhilarating picture of Irish culture. The production tells the story of Irish independence beginning 100 years ago with the Easter Rising. This celebration is similar to July 4th festivities in this country as the former played a major role in creating a modern Ireland.

Through music, song, dance and storytelling, Celtic Nights: Spirit of Freedom honors the struggle of the Irish people in their fight for independence from Great Britain. Music and dance is considered a keystone in Irish cultural identity, and the show is designed to both bind these traditions together and also to set them apart.

Edna Kenny, the Prime Minister of Ireland, has said that Celtic Nights “… have brought our distinctive and evolving music and dance tradition to the world stage and has showcased our tradition in spectacular fashion.” The show features lively jigs and reels, spirited hornpipes and polkas, and wistful ballads.

Tickets are $29 and $24 and may be purchased online at www.LPAC.org, by phone at (661) 723-5950 or at the LPAC box office at 750 W. Lancaster Blvd. from noon to 6 p.m. today.
