Oscar-winning actor Denzel Washington is adding another honor to his distinguished career.
Washington will receive the American Society of Cinematographers’ Board of Governors Award on Feb. 4 at the 31st ASC Awards at Hollywood & Highland’s Ray Dolby Ballroom.
The only ASC award that is not given to a cinematographer, the Board of Governor’s Award is reserved for “filmmakers who have been champions for directors of photography and the visual art form,” according to the ASC.
Washington directed and starred in the critically acclaimed “Fences,” out in theaters now and based on August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play. He made his directorial debut in 2002 with “Antwone Fisher” and also directed 2007’s “The Great Debaters.”
The 61-year-old star was previously honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Awards at this year’s 73rd Golden Globe Awards. He won Oscars for his acting work in 1989’s “Glory” and 2001’s “Training Day.”
