Libraries host holiday fun

Public libraries in Santa Clarita this month have scheduled an assortment of holiday activities.

Today from 2 to 3:30 p.m. visitors to the Old Town Newhall Library, 24500 Main St., can decorate cookies, while tomorrow from 1 to 3 p.m. you can stop by the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library, 18601 Soledad Canyon Road, and design holiday greeting cards to keep or give to relatives and friends.

On Dec. 13, Old Town Newhall Library will offer Christmas Story Time, along with reindeer games and a holiday craft session all taking place from 6 to 7 p.m. The following day, Dec. 14, children ranging in age from kindergarten to fifth grade are invited to decorate gingerbread cookies at the Valencia Library, 23743 Valencia Blvd. The fun will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Registration is required.

On Dec. 21, Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library will host an Elf Ball celebration from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be marshmallow shooters, elf hats and a special “fish with candy canes” event. Parental supervision is required.

Hanukkah Story Time will take place Dec. 27-29 at each Santa Clarita public library. Wendy Hersh and Rabbi Mark Blazer will read stories each night from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Canyon Country Jo Anne Darcy Library (Dec. 27), the Valencia Library (Dec. 28) and at the Old Town Newhall Library on Dec. 29.

Author Greg Wolfe will recite passages from his book “Shmelf the Hanukkah Elf” at the Old Town Library from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 30.
