The Palmdale Playhouse is offering an assortment of holiday-themed concerts, continuing tomorrow evening with The Tony Capko Rockin’ Holiday Big Band. “Horns up” at 7 p.m.

The band is comprised of some of the southlands finest musicians and offers spirited arrangements from jump blues to big band favorites.

“Be warned—this ain’t your daddy’s big band,” notes Ann Pagliaro, Palmdale recreation supervisor. “This rockin’ holiday mini orchestra combines the excitement of a modern day big band with high energy sounds of the season.”

Tickets are $15 for adults, and $12 for students, seniors, members of the military (with ID) and children under 12 years.

The next evening, Dec. 11, a Cozy Smooth Jazz Holiday will be presented at 7 p.m. The concert will feature the “smooth jazz” renditions of popular holiday favorites. Music lovers can book this concert with the previous night’s show at a discounted price of $25 for adults, and $19 for students, seniors, military and children under 12 years.

On Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m., West Coast Classical will deliver the first of three performances, beginning with West Coast Classical Beginning Strings, Beginning Band and Jazz Combo. The programs will feature holiday music favorites including a jazz-inspired closing number. Tickets for each show are $10 for adults, $7 for seniors and $5 for children under 12 years.

West Coast Classical flute and saxophone choirs, as well as its wind ensemble and string orchestra, will each perform beginning at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 16. The “Making Spirits Bright” show will feature a musical montage in honor of Charlie Brown of Peanuts fame. Musical selections will include “Christmas Time is Here,” “O Tannenbaum,” “Skating” and “Linus and Lucy.”

The “Holiday Extravaganza” will conclude the West Coast Classical performances at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 17. Music from Tchaikovsky’s classic “The Nutcracker” will be performed, as well as Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No. 4 in A Minor.”
