A man was in custody on this week for allegedly shooting a man to death in 2012 during a street brawl involving three other men since convicted of second-degree murder.

Cedric Burton, 30, was arrested on Aug. 10 shortly before 9 a.m. while entering the Antelope Valley Courthouse, sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza said.

Burton was booked on suspicion of murder and was held without bail. Hewas expected to be arraigned today at the same courthouse, Mendoza said.

On Nov. 29, 2012, Brandy Houston, 21, was fatally shot during a brawl in the 43000 block of Gadsden Avenue, the sheriff’s department reported.

Three Lancaster men were arrested after the crime, and were convicted in 2014 of second-degree murder, but the shooter remained at large, Mendoza said.

According to the sheriff’s department, the case began as an argument between Houston and his live-in girlfriend, who called her sister for a ride.

Her sister sent the three Lancaster men to pick her up, and they got into an argument with Houston and his family members. The three men left, but promised to return.

Later, they returned with two other men—one of whom allegedly was Burton, who is accused of fatally shooting Houston, Mendoza said.
