Attention all would-be Munchkins, witches and wizards: the Palmdale Playhouse and Palmdale Reperatory Theatre will hold open auditions at 6 p.m. Dec. 10 and 11 for the upcoming musical production of L. Frank Baum’s “Wizard of Oz.” The auditions will be conducted at the Palmdale Playhouse, 38334 10th Street East in Palmdale.

All roles are available for the famous children’s tale of a little girl and her dog lost in magical land of  Oz. Those ages 12 and older may audition; singers and dancers are especially needed. Liberettos (the script or text of singing parts) will be provided. Auditioners should bring a current biography and photograph and be prepared to perform 16 bars of music to demonstrate vocal range. Producers ask that auditioners dress comfortably, bring along any appropriate sheet music or a pre-recorded accompaniment track, and be prepared to learn a short dance routine.

Rehearsals will take place from January through March 2016; specific days and times will be announced later. Live performances will take place at the Palmdale Playhouse at 7:30 p.m. March 4 and 5, and at 2 p.m. on March 6 and 11.

The production is being produced with special permission from Tams-Witmark.
