In these sometimes difficult days, particularly as we near the holiday season, learning how to reduce stress can be a welcome benefit to your health. On Oct. 7 at 6 p.m. the Palmdale Library will host a free seminar on how to recognize and cope with extra stress, outside of the everyday responsibilities and problems that may contribute to anxiety, worry, sleepless nights and the occasional “melt down.”

Jacinta M. Mpalyenkana, Ph.D, will lead the discussion and offer tips on how to better manage stress. Mpalyenkana is a counselor and certified “success coach” as well as a published author. She is the founder of the Global Worry-Free Day and is co-founder of the Something Warm Project which gathers clothing, blankets, shoes etc. to distribute to homeless persons particularly in the winter months.

“We want the public to come and check out this free seminar which will offer helpful tips and information on dealing with stress,” said Thomas Vose, Palmdale Library director. “We greatly appreciate Dr. Mpalyenkana coming out to share her knowledge with our patrons.”

The Palmdale Library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
