A Fresno State football player  has been identified as the student arrested in connection with a social media threat that detailed a plan to shoot and kill his classmates.

Christian Pryor, 18, and an alumnus of Lock High School in South Los Angeles, was taken into custody this week in the athletic department offices on suspicion of making the threats, according to Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta.

Authorities said Pryor admitted to sending the threatening message anonymously on the social media app Yik Yak. Part of the message explained that Pryor wanted to “release his frustrations” because he was “tired of receiving dirty looks and rejection.” Going on, Pror saud that he would “… use an M4 Carbine to take a head shot at a hot blonde.” No weapons would found on his possession.

The campus was never shut down, but officials there issued an e-mail warning to faculty, staff and students. Local authorities and the FBI tracked down Pryor two hours after the message circulated.

Pryor was booked into the Fresno County Jail on a charge of a terrorist threat in conjunction with a social media posting. The motivation behind the threats remain unclear.
