LPAC hosts The Orchestra

Former members of the Electric Light Orchestra and ELO Part II will perform as The Orchestra at 8 p.m. May 29 at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center.

The Orchestra is comprised of strings, synthesizers and layered vocals; a combination of progressive rock and classical sounds with has come to be regarded as a prime example of symphonic rock. Among the group’s many hits are “Can’t Get You Out of My Head,” “Telephone Line,” “Evil Woman” and “Strange Magic.”

Six members of The Orchestra were formerly part of ELO Part II, and two members, Mik Kaminski (the famous “Blue Violin”) and keyboardist Louis Clark, date back to the original formation of ELO in the early 1970s. Other hit songs by ELO include “Livin’ Thing,” “Mr Blue Sky,” “Don’t Bring Me Down,” “Hold On Tight,” “Turn To Stone” and “Shine A Little Love.” ELO is also known for an extended version of Chuck Berry’s classic “Roll Over Beethoven.”

Seats for The Orchestra are priced at $49 and $39. Tickets may be purchased online at www.LPAC.org, or by phone at (661) 723-5950. Tickets may also be purchased at the LPAC box office, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
