The Palmdale Playhouse will host tonight at 7:30 p.m. the second of three performances by West Coast Classical. These will be the final shows at the Playhouse before they take to the Ronald O. Perelman Stage in the Isaac Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall for a half-hour concert as part of the New York Sounds of Summer International Music Festival.

Last evening, the newly formed West Coast Classical Beginning String Orchestra, directed by Patricia Graham, and the West Coast Classical Beginning Band, directed by Jeffrey Kaser, presented “Little Night Music” which is said to be an instrumental musical experience. The West Coast Classical’s String Orchestra, Wind Ensemble, Saxophone Choir and Flute Choir will perform tonight “Music in the Air” which features a variety of popular classical, pop and jazz compositions.

Wrapping up the weekend tomorrow evening at 7:30 will be the West Coast Classical Concert and Symphonic Orchestra’s presentation of “New York, Here We Come.” Directed by Patricia Graham, the musical will be a toast to New York City featuring numbers such as “42nd  Street,” “Singin” In the Rain” and “Give My Regards to Broadway.” The concert will also include Tchaikovsky’s “March Slav,” Aaron Copland’s “An Outdoor Overture” and several classic scores by John Williams.

“This is a great opportunity to see West Coast Classical Concert and Symphonic Orchestras before they head to New York City to perform on stage at Carnegie Hall on June 16,” said Ann Pagliaro, a representative of the city of Palmdale.

Tickets for each of the West Coast Classical performances tonight and tomorrow evening are $12 for adults, and $10 for seniors, students military (with military ID) and children 12 years and under. Tickets for all Palmdale Playhouse events may be purchased online at www.cityof palmdale.org/playhouse, or at the box office, 38334 10th Street East, beginning two hours before each performance.
