Lancaster native Jamie Bynum has opened a franchise within the nation’s largest barbecue restaurant chain. The latest Dickey’s Barbecue Pit, located at 1056 West Avenue K in Lancaster, is hosting a three-day celebration and will feature deals on barbecue meals—including $2 barbecue sandwiches—merchandise giveaways and three opportunities for guests to win free barbecue for a year.

“We are excited to further expand the Dickey’s brand across the state of California,” said Roland Dickey Jr., CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants. “The Dickey’s Barbecue family congratulates Jamie on the opening of his second Dickey’s store.”

They opened the restaurant yesterday. Today, Friday, radio station KIIS-FM 102.7 will be on site from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Door prizes will include a $500 gift card; three winners will also receive free  barbecue dinners for one year. Tomorrow will feature all-day give-aways.

Bynum is a seasoned franchise owner and said he is excited to open the first Texas-style barbecue restaurant in Lancaster. He operates another Dickey’s restaurant in Palmdale.

“We can’t wait to bring real Texas-style barbecue to the area,” Bynum said. “Our meats are slow smoked on-site with real hickory wood for up to 14 hours, which is why our barbecue tastes unbelievable.”

Bynum said he will look forward to bringing home-style sides and free ice cream to the Lancaster community each day.
