Palmdale Library will hold a variety of events for book lovers, crafters, and more.

The Friends of the Palmdale City Library on Aug. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. will hold a book sale at the library, 700 E. Palmdale Blvd.

Gently-used books and a variety of other reading materials will be available at discount prices with all profits supporting the library.

“Time to stock up on some reading material,” said Library Director Thomas Vose. “We hope to see you there.”

The monthly crochet and knit club, “Spin A Yarn,” will host its next meeting from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the library’s activity room. The club is free to the public and meets on the second Thursday of each month. Participants should bring their own yarn and needles; the library will provide refreshments and access to books on knitting and crocheting.

“(People who) knit and crochet can make a lot of cool things,” said Jamie Jordan, leader of the group. “Not only can you make clothes, but toys, covers and other great projects.”

The next meeting of the “Summertime Storycrafter’s Club” will take place at 4 p.m. Aug. 10. It’s an opportunity to sit and read with your child, 5 to 9 years old, and also participate in various craft sessions.

The Palmdale Library is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday and from 1 to 5 p.m. on  Sunday.
