It’s almost become a weekly occurence.
Celebrities sit down with reporters from across the world to promote their movie. And then there’s that one interview that goes south very quickly.
In recent years, there have been a slew of these in which the relationship between reporter and subject sometimes turns downright hostile.
Here are five of the most awkward interviews in recent years.
- The ‘Fantastic Four’ cast
On Thursday, two radio personalities from Atlanta’s Rock 100.5 were among those interviewing three cast members from the reboot of “Fantastic Four.”
Right out of the gate, Jason Bailey wanted to know why Michael B. Jordan and Kate Mara played brother and sister.
“Am I missing something?” he said.
“You’re white and you’re black. How does that happen?”
Bailey kept pressing on this point, but when they finally moved on, Steve Rickman started hitting on Mara.
“You’re way, way hot. Why’d you cut the hair?” he asked.
Yet again, the interview kept coming around to this topic.
By the time Rickman declared himself “a toe guy” in reference to Mara’s toes, the interview was over.
Later, Bailey denied that they went into the interview trying to be incendiary.

- Cara Delevigne
The hosts of “Good Morning Sacramento” and actress/model Cara Delevigne had an increasingly awkward exchange on Wednesday.
Delevigne, promoting her movie “Paper Towns,” responded sarcastically to a question asking if she had read the book it’s based on.
It all went downhill from there, and one of the anchors, Mark S. Allen, asked if she was exhausted.
Delevigne’s facial expressions throughout showed she was not pleased.
The actress responded several times on social media following the interview.
- Robert Downey, Jr.
After the “Avengers” actor was repeatedly pressed by Krishnan Guru-Murthy about his past drug addiction back in April, an incredulous Downey left saying, memorably, that “It’s just getting a little Diane Sawyer in here.”
- Bruce Willis
While promoting “Red 2,” the actor seemed to want to be anywhere but at a London junket with radio entertainment reporter Jamie Edwards.
The 2013 interview (with co-star Mary-Louise Parker) went viral because Willis seemed bored and disinterested throughout, at one point explaining to Edwards that the “fun part” was making the movie, and the movie junket, not so much.
When asked about driving in the movie, Willis replied, “I’m thinking about driving right now. I can hardly keep my mind on this interview. I’m thinking about driving up the M1.”
- Jesse Eisenberg
Seconds into her 2013 interview with the star of “The End of the Tour” and the upcoming “Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice,” Fusion reporter Romina Puga referred to actor Morgan Freeman as “Freeman.”
Eisenberg seemed offended on behalf of his “Now You See Me” co-star and responded that she spoke about him like they were on the same “little league softball team.”
The actor made no attempt to hide his disdain for Puga, accusing her of writing questions on her hand, comparing her to Carrot Top and telling her not to cry about the interview until after it was over.
Puga blogged later that the actor had “humiliated” her.
Honorable mention: Mila Kunis
Now this is how you take awkwardness and run with it.
The star, promoting “Oz the Great and Powerful” in 2013, spoke to rookie BBC Radio reporter Chris Stark, who was very nervous about sitting down with her.
Ever the good sport, Kunis put him at ease and started talking about sports and beer instead of the prepared questions about the film.
Stark was so much at ease that he even asked Kunis to be his date to a wedding.
Just call this one the palate cleanser.
