May 4 is deadline to register to vote

Los Angeles City Clerk Holly L. Wolcott reminds eligible residents they must register to vote by Monday, May 4, 2015 in order to be able to vote in the May 19, general municipal election. To be eligible to vote, you must be a citizen of the United States, be 18 years old by election day, not in prison or on parole for a felony, and reside in Council District 4, LAUSD Districts 3, 5, or 7. Registered voters who have moved or changed their names since the last election must re-register to vote.

Voter registration is handled by the Office of the California Secretary of State. You can register to vote through the following sources:

Complete your registration online at http://registertovote.ca.gov/.

Register in person at the Office of the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC), 12400 Imperial Highway, Norwalk, Calif. 90650.

Voter registration forms may also be available at the public counter of most Los Angeles City and County buildings, libraries, fire stations, post offices, and Department of Motor Vehicles offices.
