Pablo Cruise will perform at 8 p.m. April 11 at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center. The one-night-only classic rock performance will be followed on April 17 by popular stand-up comic Paula Poundstone also at 8 p.m.

For 40 years, Pablo Cruise has been making hit music heard regularly on “classic rock” radio stations. The quartet began in 1973 and since then has released eight studio albums with four singles reaching the Top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, including “Whatcha Gonna Do When She Is Gone?” and “Love Will Find A Way.” Band members include David Jenkins (guitar and vocals), Cory Lerios (keyboards and vocals), Steve Price (drums) and Larry Antonino (bass and vocals).

Pablo Cruise has appeared on numerous television shows, including Dick Clark’s legendary “American Bandstand.” In 1979, the band broke Elvis Presley’s attendance record at the Sahara Tahoe in Lake Tahoe, Nev., becoming the first rock band to play a casino showroom. They also became the first rock band to play the Grand Ole Opry. Pablo Cruise since then has continued to tour around the world and in 2011 released its first live album, “It’s Good To Be Alive,” featuring new versions of “A Place In the Sun” and “Love Will Find A Way.”

Paula Poundstone is described as a comedian with razor-sharp wit and great spontaneity. As one of Comedy Central’s top 100 stand-up comedians of all time, Poundstone is a master of observational comedy, engaging audiences with witty impromptu dialogue which makes her show a completely distinctive experience.

“No two shows are the same,” Poundstone once said. The Boston Globe reviewed her improvisational skills as similar to those of a Jazz musician in which she is constantly “… swinging in unexpected directions without a plan, without a net.”

Poundstone has starred in several HBO comedy specials and once appeared on “Saturday Night Live” with the late Robin Williams. Her first one-hour HBO special, “Cats, Cops and Stuff,” made her the first woman to receive the Cable ACE award for best stand-up comedy special.

Tickets for Pablo Cruise are $45 and $25, while admission to the Paula Poundstone concert is $29 and $19. All tickets may be purchased at the LPAC box office, 750 W. Lancaster Blvd., online at www.LPAC.org, or by phone at (661) 723-5950. The LPAC box office is open from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
