The Pepperdine University Black Alumni Council (BAC) will host its second annual “BAC Sound Investment” scholarship concert on Saturday, Oct. 11.  The event will take place at the Hotel Maya in Long Beach, 700 Queensway Drive, from 5-9 p.m. The goal of the event is to raise $45,000 to support African American students at Pepperdine.

The benefit concert will feature a live performance by The Derek Bordeaux Group, one of the hottest bands in Southern California, with a special performance by local artist Princeton Parker – a dynamic minister, musician, mentor and motivational speaker.

For more than 25 years, Bordeaux has performed in Southern California and Las Vegas, becoming one of the most sought-after artists for his sultry renditions of Motown classics, Jazz, R&B and Blues standards, including an amazing rendition of Luther Vandross’ “Never Too Much.”

In addition to the soulful and smooth sounds of Bordeaux, participants may enjoy delicious food and refreshments, ocean views and more. They will also have the opportunity to witness one deserving student recieve the first scholarship presented by the council.

“The goal of the BAC is to make a significant impact on as many students as possible through scholarships and other career opportunities,” said BAC chairman Charles Franklin. “It’s an honor to support the African American students and community at Pepperdine University.”

Individual tickets and sponsorships are available.  A portion of the ticket purchase is tax deductible. All net proceeds will go towards the scholarship endowment fund to educate African American students at Pepperdine University.
